The Embassy of Bulgaria in Japan is organising a workshop on Bulgarian embroidery on May 19. The deadline for registration for the event is May 16. This was announced by the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Tokyo.

The event is being organised by Iren Velichkova-Yamami, a Bulgarian living in Japan. Mrs Yamami is known for her extensive research into Bulgarian embroidery, traditionally used to decorate the hems and edges of clothing. This craft, refined over centuries, has evolved from a widespread traditional practice to a cherished art form today.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore the various embroidery techniques that define Bulgarian embroidery.
