In the previous year, 2023, 92 people died in the country from non-traumatic injuries at work, 70 of them from heart attacks and strokes. People with traumatic injuries died at work, accounting for 65 of the 540 workplace accidents that occurred in the country last year. Only five per cent of the more than 8,300 reports received by the GIT in 2023 concern non-compliance with safe working conditions.
