GERB-SDS and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) saw similarities in their programs regarding the country's main priorities: joining the Schengen Area by land, introducing the euro and accelerating economic growth, said Denitsa Sacheva from the negotiating team of GERB after a meeting with DPS, which placed second in the parliamentary elections on June 9. This was the first meeting after GERB-SDS announced the start of talks for a new cabinet. According to Denitsa Sacheva, it is not excluded to seek a formula for a government with a 4-year term of office, with a government of shared responsibility being a possible option for stable governance.

"We must take responsibility and form a government", Rumen Hristov, Chairman of SDS and MP from GERB-SDS, said in Montana, the BNR’s correspondent Lyubo Andreev reported. According to Rumen Hristov, the pro-European formations in parliament must unite for this purpose. ''There are 170 pro-European MPs – from GERB-SDS, DPS, We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) and There is Such a People (ITN). The remaining 70 are pro-Russian'', said Hristov.

PP-DB and Vazrazhdane have already declined GERB's invitation for negotiations. Meetings are scheduled for June 18 with BSP, ITN and Velichie parties. BSP has already stated that it will not support a government with the mandate of GERB and DPS. ITN has not yet announced whether they will participate in the negotiations. The leader of the smallest formation in parliament Velichie Nikolai Markov said that he would talk to GERB but only with the party’s leader Boyko Borissov.
