The regional ethnographic museum in Plovdiv opens its doors for the 16th edition of the Week of Traditional Crafts, the organizers report. The opening is on June 24 (Enyovden) - honored in Bulgarian folk traditions as the day of herbs and their healing power.

This year the focus is on the ancient and beautiful craft of felting. Every day, visitors will have the opportunity to meet different craftsmen who will demonstrate their skills to the visitors. They will also be offering their handmade items for sale.
The national exhibition "Bulgarian felts - a message from antiquity" will be opened in the museum, including felted carpets from the whole of the country, with the participation of six museums. The exhibition reveals the richness and diversity of traditional products, as well as their importance in Bulgarian culture and history.

During the Week of Crafts, a partner of the regional ethnographic museum in Plovdiv is the The Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in South-Eastern Europe - Sofia, under the auspices of UNESCO.
