National Assembly could hold extraordinary sitting for the new caretaker cabinet to be sworn in

The caretaker cabinet with PM Grancharova-Kozhareva could be sworn in at an extraordinary sitting of the National Assembly on Tuesday, Yordan Tsonev who is chairing the parliamentary sitting stated: “There will probably be an extraordinary sitting on Tuesday, 20 August, for the new caretaker cabinet to be sworn in, if the president issues a decree for that,” he said. As of 16 August, the 50th National Assembly is in summer recess. The next regular sitting is scheduled for 4 September. For the snap election for parliament to be held on 20 October, the new caretaker cabinet has to be sworn in at the National Assembly no later than 20 August. The 50th National Assembly started functioning on 19 June. The MPs had a total of 40 work days during which they held 23 sittings. The MPs are expected to have 8 more sittings at most, because on 20 September parliament should take a pre-election recess.
