Bulgaria has taken on new foreign debt of 3 billion euro and 1.5 billion US dollars, the Finance Ministry has announced. The triple tranche of Bulgarian bonds has sparked great interest among investors, allowing the country to secure extremely favourable terms, reports BNR financial reporter Marta Mladenova. For the first time in 20 years, Bulgaria is offering bonds denominated in US dollars. This transaction is in line with the main objectives of debt management in 2024: to raise the necessary funds to refinance outstanding debt, finance planned budget deficits and ensure the liquidity position of the fiscal reserve.
