Bulgarian film about Nessebar wins 4 awards at 3 world film festivals

Photo: Bulgarian National Television

The documentary film The Spiritual Mirror of Christian Nessebar produced by the Bulgarian National Television has received a total of four awards at three prestigious international film festivals in Brazil, Georgia and Portugal.

The screenwriter of the film is our colleague from Radio Bulgaria Ivo Ivanov, the director is Misho Landzhev, and the cameraman is Alex Samundzhi.

The film introduces us to the only place in Bulgaria with so many surviving medieval churches. These ancient temples impress the residents and guests of the Black Sea town of Nessebar with their architecture, beauty and preserved frescoes.
It was the churches and old houses of Nessebar that motivated UNESCO in 1983 to include the Old Town of Nessebar in the World Heritage List.

The Spiritual Mirror of Christian Nessebar was awarded first place at the Finisterra Brazil Film Art & Tourism Festival in the Religious Tourism category and second place in the Documentary category. The film won third place at the Finisterra Arrábida Film Art & Tourism Festival in Portugal, as well as third prize in the Travel Documentary category at the Art & Travel International Film Festival in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The video is in Bulgarian.
