Before the session of the National Assembly today, GERB-SDS started talks with parties over future political actions in the new parliament. Party leader Boyko Borisov personally heads the negotiation team together with Raya Nazaryan, Rosen Zhelyazkov and Tomislav Donchev. “BSP - United Left" were the first to be invited, followed by ITN. Before the start of the meetings, BSP and ITN commented that they would not support a government with GERB.

In the course of the meeting with the BSP, several important topics stood out. Among them are mandatory decisions affecting the 2025 budget, cancelling the changes to the Constitution, guaranteeing energy and economic security, postponing the liberalization of the electricity market, social policies and healthcare. BSP defined the meeting as the beginning of a dialogue where certain agreements were reached such as liberalization of the electricity market after a model is developed to protect vulnerable citizens.

After the meeting with GERB, Toshko Yordanov from ITN pointed out that there was no agreement on a cabinet and commented that the differences between the two parties were fundamental. Yordanov expressed doubts that a speaker of the parliament would be elected. He pointed out that there was a significant discrepancy between the actions and declarations of the first two political forces.

Borissov commented that pre-election programs were being repeated and pre-election campaigning was being conducted again, but it was time to change this approach. All see finances and the shortage of water as major problems. The leader of GERB pointed out that they have more points of contact with ITN, but a stable prime minister is needed for the retrenchment they propose, while they do not agree that Borissov should be PM. Boyko Borissov pointed out that he proposed policies and stable governance to control the budget deficit. He called on the coalitions to consider his party's proposals and make compromises for the sake of stability. Borisov pointed out that he is clearly aware that the responsibility he is taking on is great and this could reduce the number of his voters, but it is the party’s choice and not his personal.

Speaking about the liberalization of the electricity market, Borissov said that it should be postponed.
