Earlier today Unit 5 of Bulgaria’s Kozloduy NPP has been stopped from operation for planned annual repair works, the NPP press service said. The reactor will be loaded with fresh nuclear fuel for the next fuel cycle. The repair will continue until the second half of May. Unit 6 operates at full capacity. The Deputy Chairman of the Nuclear Regulation Agency Borislav Stanimirov told the Bulgarian National Radio that during the planned annual repair of Unit 5 part of the measures were aimed at upgrading the reactor’s capacity. The Electricity System Operator has said that the energy system of the country has enough capacities to replace the 1000 MW unit under repair.
