One in three Bulgarians travels for the purpose of tourism at least once a year

A Eurostat analysis shows that in 2016 around 30 percent of Bulgarians, or almost one in three, travelled at least once a year for the purpose of tourism inside the country or abroad.

For the citizens of Europe, this indicator stands at 62 percent on average, or more than double the figure for the citizens of Bulgaria. The average sum Bulgarians spent when travelling abroad was 156 euro, compared to 336 euro spent on average for tourism by citizens of the EU, Eurostat data indicate.
