Bulgarians do not consume enough fruit: Eurostat

Bulgaria is last on the list of EU countries, alongside Latvia and Lithuania, in the per capita consumption of fruit, indicate Eurostat data.

Only 37 percent of Bulgarians eat fruit every day, and 45 percent put vegetables on the table every day, the average for the EU being 64 percent for fruit, and 40 percent for vegetables.

Bulgarians consumed an average of 50 kg. of fruit and 68 kg. of vegetables in 2017. On the whole, Bulgarians eat twice as much meat as vegetables but bread remains the most regular of staples – at around 90 kg. per year.
