Bulgaria’s Extraordinary Security Council has established action headquarters in relation to the coronavirus threat as head is the director of the Military Medical Academy, Gen. Ventsislav Mutafchiiski. An epidemic response exercise would also be held in the country, it has been reported.

At Bulgarian land borders, devices will be installed to monitor body temperature of passengers. Bulgaria Air has already canceled flights to Milan although Bulgaria's relations with Italy are intensive and more than 4,000 people travel weekly by air to Italy.

The Ministry of Education has called for an end to organized trips to Italy and countries with registered cases of coronavirus infection. 15,000 Bulgarians live in regions in Italy where coronavirus was detected, Bulgarian Consul General in Milan Tanya Dimitrova said and also recommended avoiding travel to Lombardy.
