Film about Finnish artist wins "Golden Aphrodite" at festival in Varna

Biographical drama "Helene" by Finnish director Antti Jokinen has won the grand prize at the 28th edition of the Love is Folly International Film Festival, Varna.

The film tells the story of the famous Finnish artist Helena Sofia Schjerfbeck (1682-1946) and her love affair with young art critic Einar Reuter. Actress Laura Birn won the Best Actress award for her portrayal of the artist.

Alex Lowther was honored for Best Actor for his role in the UK film Old Boys. The jury's special award went to Hungarian film "Tall Tales", directed by Attila Szàsz. Bulgarian actor Stefan Mavrodiev received the prize for overall creativity.
