Being an EU Member State, Bulgaria does not recognize annexation of Crimea

7 years after the illegal annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, Bulgaria remains consistent in its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

We consider this act against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine a violation of international law with serious implications on stability in the Black Sea region and international security.

The construction of the Kerch Bridge without Ukraine's consent, the growing militarization of the peninsula, the changing demographics and the deteriorating human rights situation are particularly concerning. We call for ensuring the unimpeded passage of all ships through the Kerch Strait, the Ministry added.
