Politicians always have an important role in bilateral relations. History helps politicians understand the roots of contemporary problems, but it is not historians who define relations. The whole responsibility belongs to the politicians. This was what Angel Dimitrov, co-chair of the joint inter-disciplinary expert commission on historical and educational issues with North Macedonia has told the BNT.

Bulgaria's position is perfectly clear and backed by solid facts but it is a different question whether it is presented well and if there are people who want to understand it, Prof. Dimitrov said. Skopje shows reluctance to work. But our work reaches people who read. The commission is an indicator of the state of bilateral communication, Prof. Dimitrov added.
