"Donate a Book to Ukrainian Child" campaign starts in Bulgaria

A Bulgarian-Ukrainian initiative entitled "Donate a book to Ukrainian child" has been launched under the auspices of Ukraine’s first lady Olena Zelenska.

"We want children who are far from home to read in their native language," Desislava Aleksieva, chairwoman of the Books and Children Foundation, has told BNR. The foundation has already distributed 2,500 books to Ukrainian children and plans to print another 17,000 books provided by Ukrainian publishers. The books will be donated to children in Sofia, Varna, Burgas, Plovdiv and other cities, as well as to regional libraries.

According to official data, there are over 25,000 Ukrainian children in Bulgaria.
