Two-thirds of Bulgarians are of the opinion that Bulgaria should take a course of neutrality towards Russia despite the country's NATO membership, while only 25% are in favour of full and active support for the position of the Alliance, data from a national survey by the ESTAT agency shows. If the country were invaded, only 6% would take up arms to defend their homeland. 2% of women would volunteer for the army.

Russia's supporters are mainly men, people over 50, residents of regional centres, voters for the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and There is Such a People party.

Women, people under 30, residents of the capital and voters of right-wing political formations declare their support for Ukraine."

The survey was conducted in the period 16-28 April on behalf of the "Workshop for Civic Initiatives" Foundation.
