UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has arrived in Ukraine where he is to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkish President Recep Erdogan. The visit comes at the invitation of Volodymyr Zelensky. The three are expected to discuss the July agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain. Security at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which was seized by the Russian forces and around which the fighting continues, will also be in the focus of attention of Antonio Guterres’ meetings in Lviv.

The UN Secretary-General is also scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky and to visit Odesa – one of the ports included in the agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain and other agricultural products across the Black Sea.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian forces report they have repulsed a Russian attack in the region of Kherson in Southern Ukraine, while 7 people were killed and 16 wounded during Russian shelling of a residential district of Kharkiv in Southern Ukraine. The Ukrainian military command expects an escalation of fighting along all fronts in the coming weeks.
