Security Council with Bulgaria's PM to discuss the consequences of the referendums in the occupied Ukrainian territories

The Security Council under Bulgaria's Prime Minister Galab Donev will discuss the partial military mobilization in the Russian Federation, the holding of referendums in the occupied Ukrainian territories and the possible escalation of the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine. According to Galab Donev, there is a risk to the national security of Bulgaria, but there is no direct military threat to Bulgaria at the moment. 

The meeting with the Prime Minister comes a week after the Consultative meeting with President Rumen Radev, who indicated that the escalation of the conflict could affect the supply of gas and oil and deepen the economic and social crisis. Then the caretaker prime minister commented that the government is preparing all the systems that could be affected by the military conflict. At today's meeting, in which representatives of the security services also participate, the Prime Minister's Security Council is expected to analyze the state of the national security protection system, prepare assessments and propose relevant solutions.

After the results of the Ukrainian referendums held in the occupied territories, there is a high probability that 15% of the Ukrainian territory will be annexed to Russia, regardless of the condemning reactions of the Western leaders. In Moscow, the results of the referendums were marked on a huge screen in the Red Square with the messages "Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye, Kherson - Russia!", BTA reported. 

The agency quoted Russia's ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, as saying in an article in the "National Interest" that American politicians are mistaken if they think that Russia is not ready to defend Crimea or the territories that may join the country, "on the basis the free expression of the will of the people". Antonov also recalls that October marks the 60th anniversary of the Caribbean crisis, when the USSR and the USA were on the verge of a nuclear conflict. In this regard, the ambassador calls on Russia and the USA, as well as the other nuclear states, to jointly confirm in a document that "there can be no winners in a nuclear war and it should never be started".
