Farmers from all over the country blocked the border crossings near Kardam and the Danube bridge near Ruse for 3 hours until 1 p.m. The protest is against the uncontrolled import of cheaper products from Ukraine.

Over 100 tractors blocked a 5-kilometer column with 200 trucks to Ukraine near Kardam.

The production lying in the warehouses are for about 2 billion euros. The direct losses of the producers are about 400 million euros.

Farmers want the regulation on imports from Ukraine to be changed, said the chairman of the National Association of Grain Producers Ilya Prodanov.

The blockades were coordinated with farmers' organizations in Romania, which also protested. The blockade of the Danube bridge ended with a big traditional dance.

The formed line of trucks has reached 15 km.
