Burgas marks 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and USA

With a series of events on May 30 and 31th in Burgas, the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and the USA will be marked. On this occasion, the US ambassador to Bulgaria, Kenneth Merten, also arrived in the city. The official opening of the celebrations takes place today on the open stage "Ohlyuva" (The Snail) with greetings from the mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov and the US ambassador to Bulgaria and a bluegrass and jazz concert by the Barbaro quartet.

The beginning of diplomatic relations was set in 1903, when Bulgarian Knyaz Ferdinand accepted the credentials of John B. Jackson, the US plenipotentiary minister for Greece, Romania and Serbia, who became the first US diplomatic agent for this country.
