Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany and Luxembourg have joined NATO's Multinational Ammunition Warehousing Initiative (MAWI). It plays a key role in enabling the advance deployment of ammunition stocks in support of NATO's multinational battle groups on the alliance's eastern flank, the NATO website said. In response to Russian aggression in Ukraine in February 2022, the pact decided to strengthen the four multinational battle groups in the eastern part of the Alliance and to add four more.

Allies are also working on pre-positioning more weapons and equipment to remain prepared for any potential threat.

In an interview with Politico, Bulgaria's Defense Minister Todor Tagarev stated that Bulgaria would increase its support for Ukraine with ammunition. Tagarev points out that the delivery of MIG-29 fighters and anti-aircraft systems will be a "challenge" because Bulgaria needs them.

Tagarev expresses strong concern about Moscow's influence in Bulgaria and adds that he is considering creating a new specialized structure to combat Russian disinformation.
