Bulgaria Today – 06 September 2023

Welcome to Bulgaria Today, the English-language podcast of Radio Bulgaria, on a national holiday here.

On September 6, Bulgaria marks 138 years since the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia, an important moment in Bulgarian history that changed the course of development of the country.

On the day of the Bulgarian Unification, first we talk to university professor Prof. Vera Boneva about a great Bulgarian historical figure from the times of the Bulgarian National Revival, Gavril Krastevich.

Next, we talk to a curator from the Regional Museum of History in Plovdiv about two female figures who had a remarkable contribution to the Unification in other ways.

Also, Song for Bulgaria and other festive melodies on the programme.
