Political forces can register for the local elections until 13 September

42 parties and 8 coalitions have so far submitted documents for participation in the local election. 24 partiers and 3 coalitions have been registered, the voter signatures and accompanying papers of the remaining parties and coalitions are being verified.

The registration will end on 13 September, said Central Election Commission spokesperson Rositsa Mateva. Documents were submitted by the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) and the Bulgarian Socialist Party. SDS (Union of Democratic Forces) has registered as an independent party, but, in most municipalities, is running in coalition with GERB. Vazrazhdane and Save Sofia have also registered for the election. We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria (PP/DB) will present their candidates for the local elections in the country on 12 September.

The local election is scheduled for 29 October, the election campaign kicks off on 29 September.
