Vazrazhdane supporters demand for the resignation of the government

Supporters of the Vazrazhdane party came out in protest in front of the parliament building and the Council of Ministers to demand the resignation of the government. The protest was announced as a national, and people started gathering shortly before 12 noon.

They insist on holding a referendum on the preservation of the Bulgarian currency - the lev, and oppose the changes in the constitution aimed at "fragmenting Bulgaria". "What is happening, you ask? You see it yourself - first, it's Ukraine, first, they say we will defend Ukraine to the end... Excuse me, okay, but Bulgaria, what about Bulgaria?" a participant in the protest told BNR reporter Svetoslava Kuzmanova.

The protesters headed to the Soviet Army Monument and tried to attack the fence that encloses it, to the sound of Bulgarian Renaissance songs and waving national flags. There was an increased police presence at the site.

Then the supporters of Vazrazhdane headed to the Eagles Bridge and blocked the traffic. "We, Bulgarians, are the ones to determine what should happen in our country, not some rabble-rousing ambassadors," Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov said. The crowd started chanting "Resign! Trial! Prison!" From there, the protesters marched down central Sofia streets, stopping traffic, and gathered in front of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, where the demonstrators started to disperse.
