Elections 2024

In Bulgaria it is a Day of Reflection before the European and national elections

8 June is a Day of Reflection in Bulgaria ahead of the national and European elections. On this day, voters should be left alone with their conscience to make the most sensible decision for themselves about who to vote for.

On the day of reflection, as on the day of the elections, political campaigning is prohibited under the Electoral Code. It is also forbidden to publicise in any form the results of opinion polls. An exception is social networks, which are not subject to regulation under the law, the CEC said.

6,100 candidates, including 1,826 women, will compete for seats in the National Assembly. There are 418 candidates for Bulgaria's 17 seats in the European Parliament, 131 of them women.

Election day on 9 June starts at 7.00 am and ends at 8.00 pm, and is extended to 9.00 pm if there are queues.

The addresses of the polling stations for voting of our compatriots abroad can be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

An important clarification is that Bulgarian voters who live in non-EU countries or are in non-EU countries on election day can exercise both types of voting only in polling stations opened in the diplomatic and consular missions of Bulgaria. In other open polling stations in non-EU countries, Bulgarian citizens will only be able to vote for the National Assembly of their country.

When voting outside the country, voters must present their Bulgarian ID card, passport or military identity card (only for military personnel) to the polling station.
