The day of St. Tryphon (1 February old style, 14 February new style) is celebrated by vine growers, falconers and gardeners in Bulgaria.

St. Tryphon is believed to help ward off insects and pests that harm plants. In folklore tradition, the day is celebrated over three consecutive days – 1,2 and 3 February and is known as Trifuntsi.
