Bulgarian businesses expect 6.3% contraction of investments in industry

An investment business poll of the National Statistical Institute held among the industrial enterprises in March 2014 provides information about investments made by them in 2013 and about their investment plans for this year. The plans of industrial enterprises in 2014 are for contraction of investments by 6.3% on 2013. Energy and the sectors linked to water account for the largest relative share (44.3%) of investments where a 1.7% rise is anticipated. Second and third in terms of predicted investment volumes come the sectors manufacturing goods for intermediate consumption (31.2%) and fast moving consumer goods (14.7%). However, these sectors forecast downsized investment programs by 13.6 and 14.1% respectively, on 2013.
