The Bulgarian government has decided to nominate the Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, for UN Secretary General for a term from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2021. The international reputation enjoyed by Bokova as Director-General of UNESCO gives Bulgaria every reason to nominate her for the position of UN Secretary General. Feedback from UNESCO Members for Bokova’s work has been highly positive so far, which was also one of the reasons for her election for a second term in office.
