Hundreds of fans and connoisseurs of the works of great Bulgarian poet, screenwriter, playwright and translator Academician Valeri Petrov came today to say their farewell at the Ivan Vazov National Theatre. The poet passed away on 27 August at the age of 94. Poets, writers, actors, politicians and many citizens with their kids attended the sad ceremony. “Valeri Petrov sparkled with good and was the epitome of good in our life. His poetry is classics, we have studied it and have grown up with it,” PM Georgi Bliznashki stated, after having said farewell to the writer. “After the democratic changes Petrov upheld those powers that pushed forward the changes in our society and he has always been a moral support to us,” the premier went on to say.
