The Director General of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) Rolf Heuer is paying a visit to Bulgaria. The visit is related to the unveiling of an exhibition dedicated to CERN’s 60th anniversary and the 15th anniversary since Bulgaria became member of the organization. The connections between Bulgarian science and CERN date back to the 1960s and got a boost in the 1980s, when Bulgaria’s becoming a full member of the organization was first considered. By 2010 the results of research work made in CERN get published in the most prestigious scientific periodicals in the world. Bulgarian scientists working for CERN have had as many as 330 publications there.
