The ceremony for proclaiming Varna winner of the competition for European Youth Capital in 2017 took place in the Romanian town of Cluj-Napoca, which is the title holder for 2015. Varna outpaced the other three finalist cities: Cascais (Portugal), Galway (Ireland) and Perugia (Italy). The slogan of Varna’s candidature is “Social innovations and youth entrepreneurship”. After the election of the city the youth projects of Varna municipality and of NGOs will be approved preferentially when applying for EU programmes.
