Photo: Radio Shumen

The cold and snowy weather that has gripped Northern Bulgaria took three victims. A patient died in an ambulance stuck in the snow on the road, while another man died in his car in the snowdrifts. A 90-year-old-man, living alone, died in the yard of his house, trapped by the snow. State of emergency was declared in the regions of Montana, Vratsa and Lom. Strong wind caused snowdrifts, reaching over a meter of height. Yellow code for dangerously low temperatures and strong wind has been declared in 24 districts in the country for December 31. On New Year's Eve in Sofia temperatures will be around minus 14 degrees Celsius.
