A very difficult summer season is expected as the trend will be last-minute bookings and individually organised holidays, Bulgarian Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova has said. She added it was too early for a specific forecast to be made, as not all of the international tourism exhibitions have ended. However, she said that a 30-percent decline in the number of tourists from Russia and Ukraine was expected. The number of tourists from Germany is expected to rise by 5 percent, while the number of tourists from Lithuania, Latvia and Belarus may rise by 40 percent. The number of tourists from Poland and the Czech Republic could rise by 7-9 percent, Angelkova added. According to the Ministry of Tourism there was increased interest in holidays in Bulgaria from Israeli tourists. The number of tourists from Britain and Romania is expected to remain the same as last year’s.
