The Netherlands is largest foreign investor in Bulgaria

At a briefing after meeting his Dutch counterpart Bert Koenders, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov expressed satisfaction with the fact that direct investments by the Netherlands in Bulgaria for the period 1996-2014 reach over 7 billion euros. This makes the Netherlands the largest foreign investor in this country. "We rely on the support of the Netherlands for this country's accession to Schengen. Bulgaria will continue to provide adequate security at the external borders of the EU,” Minister Daniel Mitov said and added that topics related to refugees, the Islamic State , Ukraine and others were part of the discussions. "Bulgaria is a stable partner in the EU and we respect the country’s positions and have constructive relations with it," the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Bert Koenders said. According to him, together with his Bulgarian counterpart Daniel Mitov they have discussed the importance for Bulgaria to comply with the technical requirements of Schengen. "Everyone wants Bulgaria to become part of Schengen," Minister Koenders added.
