The Bulgarian Orthodox Church marks today the Day of Martyr St. Dimitar. The day is called Dimitrovden. St. Dimitar (Demetrius) saved Thessalonica from enemy attacks many times and was revered in Thrace and Macedonia even in his lifetime.
