Today we mark the International Day of Happiness, declared by a resolution of the UN General Assembly, which determines pursuit of happiness and well-being as fundamental goals of humanity.

According to a UN report for the period 2013-2015 the happiest country was Denmark, followed by Switzerland and Iceland. In a similar ranking, compiled by a British research center using a different methodology, among the happiest countries are Costa Rica, Mexico and Colombia.

A study of the Institute for the Study of the Population at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences has found out that despite the fact Bulgarians are extremely dissatisfied with their way of life, they manage to stay happy because they do not associate happiness with wealth, but mainly with health, good relationships, love, and other pleasurable sensations.
