The US navy is trying to maintain a permanent presence in the Black Sea region using the right of free navigation in international waters, commander of US warship Oscar Austin Captain Janice Smith said at a press-conference in the coastal city of Varna. Captain Smith refused to provide details on the route of Oscar Austin warship and the dates it would moor at Black Sea ports.
