Translations of foreign documents to be legalized by notaries in Bulgaria

Photo: library

According to the latest amendments to the rules for legalization, certification and translation of documents and other papers adopted by the Bulgarian cabinet, the certification of the signatures of translated foreign documents will be made by all Bulgarian notaries, rather than by the headquarters of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sofia.  Thus, the citizens and the translators will not have to travel to the Bulgarian capital to attest the translation of a given document intended for use in this country. The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was charging EUR 7.5 for the service until now. From now on citizens will pay EUR 3 to the local notary for the same service. Translators will legitimize before the notary with a document issued by the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs which proves that they are included in the list of translators of documents.
