The Shifting Layers. Young Art at the Museum exhibition with the Sofia City Art Gallery presents 35 Bulgarian authors, living on different spots across the world, constantly travelling and changing their horizons. The project has been launched with the idea that this is an incomplete and fragmental generation of artists within the latest history of art and within the memory of the museum institution itself. It is a generation that started in the era of lexicons and continued in the era of Facebook and social media. The exhibition tackles the subjects of personal revolutions, new images and myths, of attitude and work of the authors with images in the Internet era, of the borders between reality and imagination, of documents and the different perspective to the city as a global space of forms, policies and paths of different people with different stories. The works raise the issues of memory and of the role and significance of the museum institution itself in modern times. Many of the works come from the contemporary art and photography collection of the SCAG.
