More than 1000 mummers banished the evil from Blagoevgrad as they held a two-hour pageant for the traditional festival of mummer and masquerade games. Thirteen groups from the city and from neighboring villages joined the Mummers’ Festival 2018. Traditional regional customs and rituals were presented to the jury. Each group had its dancers, bears, bear-trainers, grannies and old men. The mummer games showed some topical stories, such as the campaign for the renovation of apartment blocks. Blagoevgrad has been very active in this campaign.
