Bulgarians travel to more than 150 countries without visas

Bulgarians can travel freely without visas to a total of 156 countries. By this indicator, this country ranks at the prestigious 20th place in the world, ahead of most of its neighbors. The Henley Passport Index ranking for 2018 for free movement is topped by Germany, whose citizens can travel visa-free to 177 countries. Second comes Singapore with 176 countries and the third place is shared by Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Japan, Norway, Sweden and the UK, whose citizens can travel visa-free in 175 countries. The U.S. citizens come fifth. They do not need a visa to visit 173 countries across the world. At the bottom of the list are Iraq and Syria, as their citizens can visit just 27 and 28 countries respectively without a visa. In the Balkans, only Greece and Slovenia are ranked higher than Bulgaria and occupy 7th and 11th place respectively. The Republic of Macedonia places 46th (112 countries), Montenegro is 48 (110 countries), Bosnia and Herzegovina is 51 (105 countries), and Albania is 52 (100 countries).
