On occasion of the Bee-keeper Day (Februray10) when the Orthodox Church honors St Haralampius the city of Pleven hosts the biggest international apiculture fair organized by the people employed in this sector. This year a total of 170 companies will take part in the event. Twenty two countries will have their own pavilions at the fair. The apiculture fair will be opened by Bulgaria’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Verginia Krusteva. This year the apiculture fair accentuates on organic bee-keeping. Nearly one-third of the Bulgarian honey exported abroad is organic, because demand of organic honey in Europe is high. 95% of the Bulgarian territory allows organic bee-keeping, the organizers of the event point out.
