New archeological diggings are made in Plovdiv. In the central part of the city archeologists came upon the remains of Roman thermal baths. Experts have unearthed marble staircases and floors, masonry columns made of red bricks and an installation for floor and mural heating, through a system of hot air distribution (hypocaustum). The finds are dated to the period of late antiquity, around 3-4 centuries AD. Photo: BTA
