Guards from the prison in the town of Belene have circulated a petition pressing Minister of Justice Tsetska Tsacheva for cooperation within a period of one month, so that they would be paid money compensations for violated labor rights and interests for three years back.
The prisoner guards’ letter includes a call on authorities to begin paying again money for food and antidotes for every term of duty in prison.
„When a prison guard goes on duty outside the town this is not calculated as working hours and is not paid to us”, trade union leader Petar Nikolov said.
In the meantime, the trade union of prison staff in Bulgaria has confirmed its readiness for a third consecutive protest rally in Sofia on 26 March in connection with a meeting of the justice ministers of the EU countries.
