At the beginning of 2020, after TurkStream has reached its project capacity, it can be extended further into the territory of Europe – via the gas-transiting systems of Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary, Gazprom President Alexey Miller said today. He noted that the three countries had decided to develop their gas-transiting systems.
At the end of May, Russian President Vladimir Putin, following talks with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, confirmed that Gazprom was planning a second section of TurkStream from Turkey to Bulgaria.
Alexey Miller however specified that the extension of the gas pipeline via Bulgaria would become possible only based on 100-percent guarantees provided by Bulgaria and the European Commission.
