Gazprom: Gas along TurkStream may flow to Bulgaria in 2020

At the beginning of 2020, after TurkStream has reached its project capacity, it can be extended further into the territory of Europe – via the gas-transiting systems of Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary, Gazprom President Alexey Miller said today. He noted that the three countries had decided to develop their gas-transiting systems.

At the end of May, Russian President Vladimir Putin, following talks with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, confirmed that Gazprom was planning a second section of TurkStream from Turkey to Bulgaria.

Alexey Miller however specified that the extension of the gas pipeline via Bulgaria would become possible only based on 100-percent guarantees provided by Bulgaria and the European Commission.
