Goat plague among small ruminants in Bulgaria most likely due to illegal trade

Minister of Agriculture Roumen Porozhanov voiced to the MPs at parliament that the reason for the plague among small ruminants in Bulgaria had not been established with certainty, but it was most likely due to illegal trade. On Monday the outbreaks of the infection across South Bulgaria will be inspected by a committee of DG SANTE with the EC. The institution in charge of animal healthcare will inspect how local vet authorities comply with European regulations for coping with infectious animal diseases.
