Statistics from the Agency for Refugees presented by Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Krasimir Karakachanov suggest a major decline in the number of migrants currently staying in Bulgaria.

In January 2015, the occupancy rate of accommodation centers was 67%. In November 2016, it was already 103%. At the end of July 2018 the occupancy rate fell to a mere 11%.

The persons who entered Bulgaria from 2015 to 2018 were mostly nationals of Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. Krasimir Karakachanov termed fake news recent reports that “military aircraft was used to fly in illegal migrants into the country.”
