The Dutch research ship Pelagia has been admitted to the territorial waters of Bulgaria for the needs of an oceanographic expedition. This has become possible under a resolution of the Council of Ministers. The expedition is aimed at collection of data about climate change in the region of the Black Sea over the past 20,000 years which will make more precise forecasts possible. The ship sails on 16 August and its mission continues until 22 August. The expedition is supported by the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research. For the Bulgarian side, Senior Research Associate Lyubomir Dimitrov from the Institute of Oceanology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will join the Dutch team.
