Bulgarian Diplomatic Society calls for observing law for rotation of 20 ambassadors

This year subject of rotation are more than 20 ambassadorial positions in embassies and permanent representations of this country. With interest and anxiety, we monitor various suggestions and rumors that precede this rotation. Some argue that the machine for issuing official and diplomatic passports of persons unknown to the diplomatic service has overheated in the past month. This is stated in an open letter to President Rumen Radev of the Bulgarian Diplomatic Society (BDS).

We would like to recall, however, that in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Diplomatic Service Act, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representatives to International Government Organizations are appointed by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria on a proposal of the Council of Ministers. Therefore, the head of state is the one who can send ambassadors and permanent representatives, and it is his responsibility, including political and moral, to send the most dignified and professionally prepared diplomats to senior positions, Bulgarian diplomats say
